The objective of this course is to study about the social organisational setup of Yanomami people. As the Yanomami tribe have no genetic or linguistic affinity with their any of their neighbours, the learners will take a deep dive in understanding the descendants of an indigenous group that remained isolated for a long time. A brief introduction on the connection between culture and the process of socialization will enrich the learners on the unique way of life that the Yanomami have preserved for centuries.
Over the duration of the course, learners will be able explore the Yanomami family, customs, and their traditions. The core learning emphasizes on the strong belief of Yanomami’s in equality among its people. By the time of this course completion, learners will also have a clear understanding of villages of Yanomami people which vary in size but interestingly each village lives under a roof which is called shabono that has kept them embraced the strong culture.
